You Can Do It

Written by Sondra McClain

Have you ever had those days or moments when you just feel like giving up?  Like just not even trying anymore?  You keep saying in your head “why should I keep trying, it won’t do any good”.  Come on, be honest with yourself.  Well I’m here to tell you that you are not alone.

Everyone in this world has had those types of days or moments.  Its how we choose to deal with it that separates us from the rest.  You can either be one of those people that allow the situation to take control of you or you can be someone that deals with it head on and then continues to live a life unconsumed by things you cannot change.  Always keep in mind that there are some things that we can change in our lives that affect us and then there are other things that we cannot change.  My question, why worry about things that we cannot change.  And if you are confronted with a situation that can be changed, then stop bitching about it and do something about it.  Otherwise do everyone around you a favor and zip those lips because we don’t want to continue hearing the same old complaint knowing all too well that you can do something about it but for whatever reason don’t.  We’ll call these kinds of people “The Bitchers”.  I personally think that some people just love to hear themselves talk and “The Bitchers” definitely fall into this category.  They love to be the center of attention and love to talk about themselves all the time and they’ll talk to whomever, whenever as long as you’ll listen.  Just know when you are dealing with these kinds of people your sound advice will most always fall on deaf ears – both of them.  I’m sure that you have a few of those characters around you.

Then you have what we’ll call “The Conquerors”.  “The Conquerors” are those that really want to change their situation but for whatever reason, they don’t.  I don’t know if they are mastering in the art of procrastination, they do not have the necessary resources or support systems backing them, or if they just don’t have the strength to change the situation because for whatever reason it’s just been going on so long.  They allow the situation to conqueror them and will wallow in their own pity, allowing the situation to consume their lives, and if they are not careful, they will loose the battle altogether.

Lastly, you have what we’ll call “The Defeaters”.  “The Defeaters” are the select few that go through a situation who analyze it, figure out what it takes to remedy the situation, and then do something about it.  It may take a lot of effort on their part to get through their situation, (believe me it’s not always easy) but they do not let anything defeat them and will not stop until the desired outcome is achieved.  In essence, they defeat the situation, they don’t let it defeat them.

So which category do you fall in?  Are you a Bitcher, a Conqueror, or a Defeater?  Whichever category you fall into, just remember that life is too short to be a Bitcher or a Conqueror so why not be a Defeater.  Come on, you can do it.
